DIS(ORDER) 2021
Client:
Year:
Dis(order) is an interactive installation which utilized theatrical wall flats, stockpiled objects from my time in production, lighting and collected recycling to stage a performance that emulated various therapeutic assessments while DSM case study recordings played in the background. Interaction began with a “grounding” conversation between individual participants and the artist, a one-to-one performance mimicking forms of talk therapy, followed by a few minutes alone in the space. The piece invited participants to investigate their views and biases about mental health and neurological diversity, hopefully walking away with an altered understanding of the lived experiences of the neurodiverse and their material worlds.
